🩷 Guinness 🩵 Vitus 🩷 Silly 🩵 Bud 🩷 Peroni

The (beer)litter of five tiny puppies, found on the street of Sint Maarten next to their deceased mother. Silly weighed less than 100 grams, and they all fit easily into the palm of my hand.

The first night was the hardest. Two of the pups struggled, and in a moment of desperation on that Sunday night, I decided to give them my own breast milk. It was the best option to give them the nourishment they needed, and luckily, by morning, they had all survived.

From that day on, the puppies improved steadily. My family and I cared for them with dedication. For two months, they thrived under our care. I took them to the vet, where they received their 6-, 9-, and 12-week vaccinations. I also dewormed and defleaed them.

When they were old enough, they all flew with us to the Netherlands. Our own dog Zana was in the cabin with us. Afterward, we drove south with six doggies in the car. It was all quite exciting and required a lot of planning, but in the end, everything worked out well, and they all went to their super-loving homes. Four stayed with friends in Maastricht, and Peroni found her forever home in Helmond.

I kept in touch with all the new owners, and we planned a reunion for all the puppies. It was a rainy day, but that didn't spoil the fun. They have all grown into beautiful sweet dogs. Once helpless on the streets, they were now in homes filled with love. Reflecting on the journey, I knew that the struggles and late nights had been worth it. The memories of those tiny survivors will forever warm my heart!
